America’s Best Dance Crew: Kaba Modern

America’s Best Dance Crew is a popular dance show on MTV. Basically, it’s an elimination tournament with 12 professional dance crews. These dancers really know how to choreograph their dances and perform them flawlessly: Every show the judges have to eliminate one crew and it’s always really hard to decide. These dancers on this show are highly skilled. Watch their videos and play it in slow motion: The moves might seem easy, but actually are really hard to do; once you realize that, you’ll appreciate this art more!

Kaba Modern is one of my favorite dance crews. The group consists of three guys and girls. They are from University of California, Irvine and most of them go to school, talk about multitasking! The first dance they did, on the show, blew everyone away: It was instantly a top video Youtube and many discussion forums. When I saw it my jaw dropped; their moves are so sick. They do a lot of popping, which is a dance technique of quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause a rigid jerky movement. This crew is highly skilled and has a great chance to win the tournament.
Below is a compilation of all their dances!
I wish I could dance like them. If I had that skill instead of walking, I’d dance everywhere. I’d carry a boombox with me and whenever a crowd would appear I’d set it down and start popping. Alias, one of the many skills I lack.
Yeah.

Hi,
I am contacting you today regarding the Reb Bull PROPS, a Red Bull and Zero Gravity breakdance event. Any coverage you could provide to the event would be wonderful for us at Red Bull. Here are some links that showcase footage from past Red Bull PROPS events and below is a brief description of the upcoming event:

Calling all B-Boys and B-Girls! Red Bull is giving props to the best breakers in the New York area at the Red Bull PROPS Breakdance Event. The battle goes down at the Rochester Institute of Technology Clark Gym at Jefferson Road, Henrietta, NY on April 12, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The renowned Rochester, NY DJ duo Discolobos will man the wheels of steel as Syracuse native, B-Boy Kaos, of the internationally known Zero Gravity breakdance battles, hosts the event.
Approximately 32 breakers will scrimmage one-on-one displaying their skills in a showdown. Then test their overall creativity and funky-fresh skills of using Red Bull props in a mock classroom set-up during their freestyle routine. The finalists of the one-on-one battle will then face-off, and the winners of each part the event will receive a Playstation 3 console.
In 2002, the first Zero Gravity battle took place at a small dance studio in Shoppingtown mall, Syracuse, NY. Since then, the annual event has generated the attendance of well over 500 spectators, breakdance enthusiasts, and breaking crews from all over the world. Red Bull joined Zero Gravity on its 5th anniversary in 2007 with a props concept to enhance the imaginative element of the competition.
“Red Bull PROPS pushes the breaker to be creative and use anything around them as something new to shine with,” said B-Boy Kaos. “It has brought that theatrical, showmanship component to the competition that could easily transfer to theaters of Broadway.”
