Lebron James Vogue Cover
What does this picture say? It’s gotten a lot of smack saying it makes him look like a gorilla, King Kong, a big black man raping a small white woman, etc. I think it’s all bullshit, what do you think?

I never saw the King Kong angle but I did think, ‘Here we go again: the idea that a black man can only be a basketballer.’ The problem with thinking that that was problematic, as was pointed out to me, is that LeBron James is a basketballer. I guess if it wasn’t for Vogue’s record (i.e. more white models on the cover than other races, more than is representative of the US population), we probably wouldn’t have noticed.
Yeah this was their first black man on their cover.
i’m black and i think ppl are up in arms over nothing.
lebron chose to pose this way and i don’t see anything wrong with it…. there are a lot more important things to be upset about.
i do think he looks silly though.
eh…
I can see how people might take it that way, because people can take anything anyway. Seeing as the story was about best bodies; it just looks like they wanted to show how different their bodies were. Him being an athlete, and her being a model. Nothing to do with race or sexuality i think.
it somewhat just looks like he is controlling her because of the way he is grabbing her?
