Movie Review: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

What do you get when you combine the immense talents of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg? Crap. Indiana Jones was definitely one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time. It does a great job of pleasing the crowd it aimed for, but I really did not enjoy it and am forgetting it as I type.

The audience this movie was after was obviously the more nostalgic American crowd who love movies like Rambo…American action movie legends. The movie really stuck to its past and hardly updated the story and acting. Spielberg really just wanted to move the story line from the old Indiana Jones to the new so that he can make sequels and many more millions.

Don’t get me wrong, if you like really, really, really fake action movies with little story line and happy endings, this is the movie for you. I, however, don’t enjoy watching Indiana Jones being shot at by 50 men with AK-47s within a distance of 20 feet while Indiana escapes successfully on foot.

Where was George Lucas in this film?! The graphics were sufficient but his expertise could have been utilized so much more. And why the hell is Shia Labeouf the successor to Harrison Ford. Ford is the perfect white tought guy, but Lebouf is a nerdy looking skinny kid and doesn’t look tough to me at all. At least he’s a pretty good actor.

With all the hype and the combined talents of Lucas and Spielberg I have to be harder on this movie than I would another. It does well for a certain audience but it just didn’t do it for me…and I really like action movies.

4/10
