The Dark Knight Review

Published by NO under movies

dark knight wallpaper

The average superhero movie can be good, and even great. They are exciting and action packed mixed in with a little love and a happy ending. Batman does all of the above, but ten times better than any superhero movie I have ever seen.

The darkness of the movie is amazing. Spiderman 3 tried to do it with black Spidey, but really failed. The Dark Knight is a powerful, rich, scary character, yet still shows great compassion for every citizen. Heath Ledger as the Joker will win every award there is available because he was amazing. I don’t remember believing in a character as much as I did the Joker. I really believed the Joker was insane, and at times felt sorry for him.

The most obvious difference from other superhero movies is that the Dark Knight doesn’t just scratch the surface. It goes deeper, questioning humanity and its morals. I can honestly say the Dark Knight is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and destroys any superhero movie I have ever seen.

Movie Review: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Published by NO under movies

What do you get when you combine the immense talents of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg? Crap. Indiana Jones was definitely one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time. It does a great job of pleasing the crowd it aimed for, but I really did not enjoy it and am forgetting it as I type.

The audience this movie was after was obviously the more nostalgic American crowd who love movies like Rambo…American action movie legends. The movie really stuck to its past and hardly updated the story and acting. Spielberg really just wanted to move the story line from the old Indiana Jones to the new so that he can make sequels and many more millions.

Don’t get me wrong, if you like really, really, really fake action movies with little story line and happy endings, this is the movie for you. I, however, don’t enjoy watching Indiana Jones being shot at by 50 men with AK-47s within a distance of 20 feet while Indiana escapes successfully on foot.

Where was George Lucas in this film?! The graphics were sufficient but his expertise could have been utilized so much more….

Movie Review v. Three Kingdoms

Published by UltraYeah under movies

I was so excited to see this movie, but was terribly disappointed. The story line is so loose, it’ll leave you so confused. There is a love scene that lasts for 5 minutes, that you would expect to play some part in the movie later on; nope, it doesn’t happen. After watching this movie, you won’t get what Three Kingdoms is actually about. It was a period in the history of China, where 3 warlords wanted to united China. But who cares, this movie doesn’t.

What this movie doesn’t lack is slow motion sword fighting. Every other scene there was a spear in somebody’s face and they would dodge it, by defying gravity. Also, the main character Andy Lau, is ridiculously strong. He fights a whole army by himself and survives- unrealistic to say the least.

Worst thing about this movie is that it has Maggie Q in it. Yes, the same Asian chick that stared in Balls of fury, a comedy based on making fun of ping pong.  When I saw her in this movie, playing a serious role, this movie really died for me.

This movie just goes to prove that

‘Iron Man’ Review

Published by NO under movies

iron man

For those who love action packed films ‘Iron Man’ is a must see. For those whoe love superhero films ‘Iron Man’ is a must see. Overall it was a great movie that exceeded my expectations.

Most Comic book movies are cheesy with bad actors and a limited storyline. ‘Iron Man’ is none of this with actors Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, and Gwyneth Paltrow making it very believable. The storyline is not so outlandish, as in the Spiderman movies, and you feel that it is almost possible that ‘Iron Man’ could be built and exist today.

The film also mixes less cheesy romance with social commentary. It basically denounces the war on terror and the world’s obsession with creating the latest and most powerful weapons. The special affects are also very good and I definitely reccomend it to anyone who likes action at all.

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay Review

Published by NO under movies

The first Harold and Kumar movie was a surprise hit, and somehow combined mature and immature humor at the same time. It’s one of my favorites and I can usually watch it repeatedly without getting bored. Therefore, I was definitely looking forward to the sequel when Harold would finally be with Maria in Amsterdam.

Obviously the government had other plans. As usual Kumar’s love for weed messes things up and the duo end up in Guantanamo Bay. Their subsequent escape and journey through the south in search of rescue provides some good laughs and entertainment. However, the comedy may have gotten a little too immature.

For those who think “fart humor” can be a little much you may get annoyed with this movie. Although there’s not much, its can be funny or annoying depending on the viewer. There is also a lot of complete nudity, which seemed to be unnecessary. But other than that, the movie was pretty good. I did laugh quite a bit, and as usual the sequence wasn’t as good as the original.

Movie Review v.Story of Ricky

Published by UltraYeah under movies

The Story of Ricky is one of the most entertaining movies I’ve seen in a long time. It is about a man with super strength, Ricky, that is sent to prison: His girlfriend got killed, so he avenged her death. The prison that Ricky is sent to is run like a business; the warden uses the prisoners as slaves and kills them without any hesitation. There are Four gangs in the prison and each of them have their own boss. When Ricky notices how corrupt the prison is, he uses his two fists to clean it up.

My synopsis is basically the whole storyline. I would rate the story 6/10, because a lot of things didn’t make sense; however, it doesn’t matter, because Story of Ricky is all about extreme violence and cheesy effects. This movie was made in 1991, so there was limited special effects; as a result, the action scenes seem unrealistic. Whenever Ricky fights, his fists usually rip through the opponent’s body and just tears them up. The best thing about this movie is how much fake gore it has; in one scene Ricky puts somebody into a…

Movie Review - CloverField

Published by UltraYeah under movies

If you like the movie Godzilla and Blairwitch project, you will love this. Cloverfield is about a monster that attacks New York City and completely destroys it. The style of this movie is like a documentary; one of the characters filming with a home video camera, so it’s very first person. Because the frames are really shakey, Cloverfield seems like a roller coaster ride: If you can’t focus on multiple objects, then you might get sick.

The best thing about Cloverfield, is the computer generated background. The city is really well done, and the action scenes are really realistic; however, there wasn’t enough action. More than half of the movie involves the main characters running around New York. This movie was far from being anywhere close to scary, and there was only a handful of scenes that had some suspense.

The storyline of this movie went by too fast. I wanted to see more of the monster and why it was there. Cloverfield leaves many questions unanswered, but theres always room for Cloverfield 2. Overall, this movie was unique because of the way it was filmed, but didn’t…

Kung Fu Dunk

Published by UltraYeah under movies

I can’t believe how bad this movie was. I saw Jay Chou’s The Secret and expected this movie to be decent. How can you mess up Kung Fu mixed with basketball? Apparently, Asian people know how. This movie had irrelevant scenes and tried to include everything into one: It had action, romance, and comedy. Kung Fu Dunk tried too hard to give the audience every genre in one. But in the end all I got sadness, for wasting my time to watching this movie.

The computer graphics in this movie are ridiculously cheesy; it screams low budget. Jay Chou was flying in the air, and it seemed he was getting held up by ropes. Additionally, the tallest person they had in that movie was like 5′9″. Ok, basketball players in Asia are almost ALL over 6′3″. It doesn’t matter what you play; you have to be that tall-to compensate for skill. Jay Chou is 5′8″, sorry bro, you must be over 6′ to ride.

I shouldn’t be surprised at Kung Fu Dunk’s failure, because generally Asian movies aren’t as good as American ones. I really regret not checking…
