Bats Have Invaded the University of Texas!

Published by NO under News

uttower125 Bats Have Invaded the University of Texas!

I just got an e-mail from UT about a bat invasion. Austin’s Congress Avenue bridge is home to the largest Mexican free-tailed bat colony in North America (1.5 million) and they’re just now noticing? By the way, if you are in Austin you should visit the bridge at sunset.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and the Office of the Vice President for
Employee and Campus Services (ECS) want to remind you that Austin has a
significant bat population, and though they're really cute--they are considered
a high-rabies risk species and should NEVER be touched.

If you find a live or dead bat in a building or a live bat that can not fly
outside, please call Environmental Health & Safety's Animal Make Safe program
at 471-BATS (2287).

Please remember to shut all windows and doors especially in the evening to help
keep bats and other animals from getting into buildings.

For more information about bats on campus, please visit
   http://www.utexas.edu/safety/ehs/bulletin/batsrabies.html

It’s pretty funny that they have a phone number and web site dedicated to the deadly bats.

Students Fighting for Guns on Campus

Published by NO under News

Twelve states are considering allowing students to carry guns on campus for protection. Obviously this is due to Virginia Tech and other recent school shootings. This is the craziest thing I’ve heard in a long time! I would feel so unsafe walking around the UT campus knowing any one could be carrying a gun. If this was allowed (I do live in Texas) I would transfer some where else because this is so insanely unsafe. Thank you Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC)…idiots! If you have a Facebook account message Stephen Feltoon for proposing the worst idea in the history of college campuses.

Saudi Prince Planning Mile-High Tower

Published by NO under News

Prince al-Walid bin Talal is currently planning to build a tower in a new city near the Red Sea town of Jeddah that is literally a mile high. At 5,250 ft. and a cost of approximately $10 million, it will double the size of any competitors.

No tower current or under construction will exceed 2.300 ft. Construction workers will be lifted by helicopter to the top. This project sounds very dangerous!

Size 16 Teen Finalist for Miss England

Published by NO under News

This is a pretty cool story and real surprising. A 17-year old Chloe Marshall is a finalist for Miss England and will compete to win this July.

She is an unprecedented size 16 beating out size 0 models in a beauty contest-and she does is confidently. While most have been positive, a few have put her down for promoting obesity.  The fact is that at 5 ft. 10 in. and 125 lbs she is hardly overweight and is fighting the dangerous stereotype that a pretty girl must be extremely thin.

Sally Kern is a POS

Published by NO under News

Sally Kern is a Republic in the House of Representatives who was secretly recorded speaking to a small crowd of supporters. She bashed both gays and Muslims and said these two people would lead to this nation’s demise. A good punishment would be to make her attend a gay pride parade and maybe go to a mosque!

Heart Device Hacked

Published by NO under News

This is a pretty amazing story. A device that uses electrical shocks to ensure a regular heartbeat was hacked to prove it was unsafe. Scientists were able to retrieve and change information in the defibrillator through the device’s wireless connection. Why would such a device have a wireless connection?! So that doctors could change data without surgery. You would think this would be something they would have though about…
