Pirated Movies

Published by NO under Rant

I just read a story about a Norwegian movie director, Harald Zwart, who said he was honored that his film Lange Flate Ballaer II was pirated.

The movie was filmed in theater the day it was released and put on a Bit Torrent site in Norway. He was honored because of the fact that some one thought the movie was interesting enough to smuggle a camera in and go through the trouble of posting it on a web site. His one argument that really made sense to me was this: “Some forms of piracy are unfortunate, but I would rather one beat the pirates to it instead of hunting them down.” Law enforcement should spend more money fighting other crimes and admit they have done horribly with laws against pirated movies and music. One suggestion was to release movies online as soon as they’re released for a fee. Say you charge $5 to download the movie off line (before a DVD is released by the way). That’s cheaper than going to the theater and buying a ticket, you can watch from the comfort of your own home, and the quality would be much better than a pirated movie! It makes sense for people in the movie industry because this would expand their exposure to much more people, while people that like to go to the theater could still go.

Great Way to Donate v.Nestle

pure 300x122 Great Way to Donate v.Nestle

I’m sure you guys have all drank bottle water before. Have ya’ll heard of Nestle Pure Life? There’s nothing special about the water but the labels are worth something: Collecting them can help schools get much needed equipment and give the students field trips. The only thing is, you need a lot of points to actually get something. It takes around 600 labels for a football and a 32 bottle package cost 4 dollars; that amounts to almost 19 dollars, which isn’t bad for a football.

I drink a lot of water-32 bottles a week. Even though it’ll take me ages to collect enough labels, I’m going to do it. It doesn’t cost me anything, besides taking out the labels, and it feels good to do something positive. I don’t think there is a deadline for these labels to be turned in, so I’ll keep collecting until around this time next year. By then I should have enough points to actually give a school something!

I encourage ya’ll to start drinking Nestle Pure Life water and collecting points! Bottle water all taste the same, but only Nestle gives you points that you can donate to schools. I can think of a lot of underprivileged kids-around the Austin area- that would absolutely love going on a field trip or new gym equipment! If ya’ll guys want comment here and maybe we can start a group collection of these tabs, and make a difference!

Blog Update Part 2

Published by UltraYeah under Rant

Gorrila and Shark

It’s been a little over a month and I definitely seen improvements with this blog.

March Progress:
ALEX Rank: 630,000, moved over 400k this month.
Page View: 300 a day, 17% returning readers ( thanks!)
Google Index: Over 800 pages

There have been ups and downs with this blog’s traffic, but I’m seeing some consistent results. I’m getting most of my traffic from search engines-mostly Google- and I’m loving it. Since I write about everything, that gives me an upper hand when it comes to ranking for keywords. The max hits this month per day was around 1700, that was due to m3forums and the ranking for “Audriana Playboy” on Google.

Future Projections:
Right now I don’t have time to tap the social networking sites for traffic but I’ll definitely do that int he future.
I want to rank 400k or lower Alexa in April.
I want to get over 1.5k indexed pages on Google.
Start pay per click traffic to this site.
Post more financing related topics.

This site is going to undergo a makeover soon. Right now the banner doesn’t make sense; a little girl holding a balloon is really random, even for this blog. I have an artist already drawing up a new banner and I think I’ll be changing the background too.

Big thanks to all the continued readers. Ya’ll keep the fire burning in Daily Yeah, and I really appreciate all the comments: It’s motivating to me to see that people actually read my blog.

Thanks
Yeah.

Things I Hate v.ATT

Published by UltraYeah under Rant, Tech

ATT

ATT is without a question the worst service ever. They have an incompetent service staff and the most annoying automated voice message system. It usually takes me 20 minutes to pay a bill, which is absurd. They have so many different phone numbers and all of them lead to the same stupid voice system. I called tonight to try to pay my freaking bill over the automated message phone, but it wouldn’t let me: I was directed to the billing department and it was closed. Then I called to try to speak to a live person and that took almost 20 minutes. The representative was really rude and extremely unhelpful. I asked for the direct number to pay a bill and she couldn’t find it. GREAT, you work at ATT and you don’t know their numbers. It turns out you can’t pay your bill over the phone unless the business offices are open. I don’t get it because you pay over an automated system, why would it matter if it was during business hours or not.

I’m really fed up with ATT. If you want the worst service possible- my parent’s ATT service is always broken- or just want horrible support, ATT might be the right choice for you. Apparently, their network is so large they don’t need to care about customers. When I signed up last year, I bought the modem because there was a rebate on it. After persistent inquiries about my rebate, I got the it four months later. After this year I’m definitely cutting my ATT DSL service and getting RoadRunner cable. Although, their pricing is competitive, I rather pay more for better customer support.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I’m so angry right now that my eye is twitching.

DON’T GET ATT, YOU WILL REGRET THEIR SERVICE.
YEAH.

Firefighters Reduced to Begging

Published by NO under Rant

Firefighters are so honored and admired in this country, yet they don’t get what they’re owed? I’m not sure exactly why I have been seeing firefighters all over Austin this weekend begging on the streets beside homeless people, but it must be that they are not funded like they should be. I don’t admire firefighters as much as most people do in Texas, but I do respect them. They work hard for little pay to make sure we are safe, but there’s no way that this kind of job-including begging on the streets in the hot day and rain-can be attractive to younger people that see it.

Itz USA

Published by UltraYeah under Business, Rant

 ITZ usa

I’m at my little sister’s bday party at  ITZ. Imagine an indoor carnival filled with little kids running around and being surrounded by a sea of noise, that’s ITZ. This place is pretty nice; it’s built in a Home Depot store, very spacious and high ceilings. However, the service is really horrible and inconsistent. Our party host didn’t have a great attitude and wasn’t friendly. She even asked the children(all around 13) if they wanted to listen to Lil Wayne for the party music. For those of you who don’t know Lil Wayne, he is the best rapper alive but his lyrics are full of adult content and innuendos, definitely not suitable for kids.

The atmosphere around this place is lively, but a little much. There are plenty of screaming kids that are constantly running around; i’m actually scared someone will knock my laptop over.

The people that come here have very diverse backgrounds. From individuals that dress suitable for rap concerts, tattoos on their arms and dragging shorts, to the indie crowd,  people that wear very tight jeans and handmedown tshirts. I’m not saying this diverity of people is bad, but i’m just not used to it. Maybe I have to be reminded that this is America; I should embrace it. However, there are a few people here that seem really shady, and I definitely wouldn’t leave my kids alone knowing they’re around. At least they have a police over patrolling the building.

Overall, if ITZ changed their service, by recruiting more professional people, they would leave a better impression. The location is perfect and the building is huge: They have over 100 arcade systems, two indoor roller coasters, and a bowling alley. The Price is very competitive, at $170 dollars for a party of 10, including 50 tokens and dinner.  ITZ is in the business to throw children’s birthday parties and children are the easiest to convince. When you convince the children, they will convince their parents, basically doing ITZ work. Also, imagine how many birthday parties happen everyday. Yeah, a butt load. Sure they’re banking, but I wouldn’t come back: The service wasn’t acceptable and in the end, that’s the most important thing in business.

I’m about to die from all the screaming and yelling. The employees around here are probably irritated too; thus, they provide bad service.

Yeah.
