Gay people in the largest state in the country are now allowed to tie the knot. California joined Massachusetts, along with Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, and South Africa int he decision.

Two dozen gay and lesbian couples and gay rights groups in San Francisco sued in March 2004 after the court halted the month-long wedding march that took place when Mayor Gavin Newsom opened the doors of City Hall to same-sex marriages.

However, their fight is still not over. A coalition of close-minded religious and social conservative groups is attempting to put a measure on the November ballot that would enshrine laws banning gay marriage in the state constitution.

It’s really sad that people are still treated unfairly because they are different, but hopefully this will open the eyes of other states.

Yves Rossey used his homemade rocket wing to fly over the Alps today and was able to maneuver well enough to do figure eights. He jumped out of a plane, and once gliding started his four jet turbine engines.

He flew across the sky at an amazing 186 mph and turned the wings effortlessly with his body as high as 2,600 feet. He believes the rocket wing has much more potential and will attempt to fly across the English Channel, and eventually through the Grand Canyon.

Rossey says the hardest thing about flying is keeping his body relaxed. If he tenses up it is harder to control, otherwise he claims it feels like you are just riding a motorcycle.

I hope one day I can go parachuting strapped to one of those. That would be truly amazing!

…in a hilarious way! This dialogue is from his friend after Romo decided to break up with her at a bar.

“Tony Romo was in town, and he was bar hopping with some buddies of his from Chicago. He had the nerve to put Jessica on speakerphone and talk about their sex life with all his guys listening and laughing at her. Not only is this girl dumb, but she is completely self conscious about her bedroom skills. After a few too many drinks, he told everyone he and Jessica are over. They are taking a “break.” He could never see himself being serious and marrying this girl. He’s just having fun with her. It’s funny everyone is talking about them getting married when they are completely over. Sorry Jessica, Tony had his fun with you, and now is on to bigger and better things.”

I’m pretty surprised about the bedroom part. I’m sure every guy on Earth would allow Jessica to fall asleep in bed and still be pleased…apparently not Tony Romo!

This movie can be summarized in one sentence. Black debate team from Wiley College, the unlikely under dog, going to defeat the Harvard debate team. This plot would have been great, if it were realistic; Wiley college never faced Harvard. I don’t like the fact that the majority of the movie was based on real events that have happened, but the ending-when they faced Harvard- was all made up. The way the movie built up to that moment made it even worse. It’s like someone doing a two hour equation, but finding out the answer at the end is wrong.

The second thing I don’t’ like about this movie is that there wasn’t much debate. This movie was more focused on how blacks were treated in the past in the south. There was a combined maybe 15 minutes of actual debate and they weren’t even that great. The actors conveyed their speeches in an angry manner: It seemed like they were fighting instead of actually debating. To prove a point, a person doesn’t have to raise his voice, but the directors probably wanted to make it more dramatic.

The Great Debaters was the best movie I’ve seen in a long time; however, that doesn’t mean much, considering I’ve seen so many terrible movies lately.  The historical fallacies really ruined it for me,.
