Korean Cartoons are the bomb.

Published by UltraYeah under Comics

I came across these hilarious hilarious korean comics. I believe the artist’s name is Yang Young-Soon. The style of these comics are really unique and they all posses a Korean flavor. Nothing puts a smile on your face better than crude comics :) .

Moment of Truth

Published by NO under TV

All I have to say is you have to watch this TV show…it’s on Mondays at 8 ET on Fox. It’s a show where contestants are asked personal questions, usually damaging to themselves and their loved ones after they take a polygraph test, and they get more money as they answer progressively more damaging questions. I love how entertaining it is to watch a person’s life deteriorate in the pursuit for money :).

THAT Was a Playoff Game

Published by NO under Sports

So it’s been a couple days since I’ve posted something, but I’ve been behind on some reading and had to study for a couple tests. ANYWAYS, lets get started…

stress one THAT Was a Playoff Game

So the Rockets’ effort on Friday was simply outstanding. In the 10 years or so that the Rockets have consumed my life I’ve never seen them work so hard for the ball, play tough defense, and pass the ball so fluidly on offense. We came into a hostile Hornets sell-out arena on a back-to-back night against a team that has been feasting on the top teams of the west like Charles Barkley at a donut buffet. The Hornets had been averaging a 20-point margin of victory in their last eight home games and were playing smooth as butter.

I told you how T-Mac would come to play in the playoffs, and he gave us a taste of that last night. From tip-off Mcgrady had an obvious swagger and you knew he was gonna kick some ass. Yao had a normal Yao night and Landry and Scola couldn’t be kept off the boards.

Rafer Alston, on a bad shooting night, stifled Chris Paul. I never understood people’s criticisms of Alston’s defense, but have always seen him as a smart, effective defensive player. And Yao proved in this game what a dominant defensive force he has become. Sure, he only had one block, but he has become so adept at using his size that no one, including Chris Paul who killed our guards and Yao in the past, can get to the basket without being contested.

Tonight we have Chicago at home and if everything goes our way we have a chance of being tied with Dallas for sixth place and only 2.5 games away from the first seed. By the way, did you notice the Suns went from first to fifth today in their loss to Detroit? The west is TOUGH, the Suns are 1-2 with Shaq, and Detroit now looks like the favorite in the east.

sad shaq

I have one more rant…the Miami Heat and Pat Riley are dropping games purposely for the #1 pick. I hope to god that they do not get it and a much deserving team like the Wolves (one of the worst NBA franchises in history) does.

Websites are HARD work and Time Consuming

Published by UltraYeah under Computer Lingo

I woke up at 12pm and worked on my website until 12am.

So what exactly did I do? First, I had to resolve the Dynamic Name System for my domain: NS1.dailyyeah.com, NS2.dailyyeah.com. This basically is like a internet phone book for domains. This took about a year, literally. It took so long because if you change the nameserver, if you already have a domain, it takes the internet ages to recognize it. It has to tell every server that your domain address changed. Some servers might even have your old address. Overall this step take 24-48 hours. Talk about PAIN.

Secondly, I had to migrate my old Wordpress: I had to take all the MySQL database and all the files. All the posts and instructions on how to use the physical files(like themes), are in the mysql file; everything else is in the physical files, that you can grab via FTP(file transfer protocol). This step took another year. Why? Cause my upload speed is ridiculously slow and I messed up several times, so I had to upload it more than once.

Finally, I had to get the whole thing to work. I hated this part, because the permalinks weren’t working. Permalinks are urls that point to blogs after you write them. I couldn’t figure out why click on my posts gave me a page missing error-404. It turned out that I needed to edit the .htacess file to allow it to change the domains. I believe .htacess works with the Apache server with the mod_rewrite module, to rewrite urls. Before editing the .htacess I was getting a “PAGE DOES NOT EXIST 404″, but it was resolved after I edited the permalink.

Basically, I spent my whole day configuring this website to my new Virtual Private Server. A virtual server basically host several domains, like shared hosting, but with a dedicated amount of ram and computer speed per domain: I have 300mb+ ram dedicated to DailyYeah.com. Before today I was on Dreamhost’s Shared hosting, which was painfully slow. Ironically, Dreamhost isn’t really a dream host. Now I’m hosting with Liquidweb and hopefully everything will be rocket speed fast! Their tech support is amazing: You just call their number and almost instantly you get to talk to a real person. At Dreamhost, it would take at least 1 full day for a person to respond via email, usually with an excuse of what happened.

Mac is Whack

Published by NO under Tech

So I was browsing the Internet and found a recent study by Mindset Media contrasting Mac and PC users.

First off, let me rant about Mac. It is expensive. It troubles me to think that people will pay the outrageous prices they do for an Apple computer. The MacBook, the bottom-feeder of Apple computers, starts at $1099 and is certainly nothing special. However, if you do want to upgrade it’s poor specs, you will pay prices that make me sick. Want an extra gig of ram? $150. Three gigs of ram? An astounding $850!! I have four gigs of ram in my desktop, and if i remember, i paid $60 dollars for two good gigs of ram. Steve Jobs then decided to create the Macbook Air. I admit that the Air is incredibly thin. BUT, the price is outrageous for the product. The Air starts at a measly $1799 and the upgrade, which only gives you .2 GHz of extra speed and less HD space at only 64 gigs, will cost you $3098…WHAT A DEAL!! The Air comes with either a 1.6 or 1.8 GHz processor-very slow at best. Not only are their computers overpriced, but Apple TV, iPhone, ipod…the list goes on…are priced ridiculously high.

Alright, I think I’ve gone on long enough, now for the study.

Mac users are said to be self-centered and have a strong need for recognition. Mac users believe they are superior to PC users, feel self-important, and extraordinary. Mac users are more likely to use teeth whiteners and buy up to five new pairs of shoes a year. They’re more likely to have an open personality, buy organic food, drive a hybrid car, and visit Starbucks frequently. Mac users are perfectionists and half of them are crazy enough to pay for music, while only 16% of PC users pay. Mac users are liberal (not a bad thing :D) and are willing to pay more for “green” technology. Mac users are far more satisfied with their computers than PC users; 70% to 59%.

IMDb=NO

Published by NO under Rant

Many people I know praise IMDb and judge every movie that comes out based on the hailed IMDb user ratings. But I can’t stand the site, unless of course I’m looking up trivia to the Fresh Prince of Bellaire :).

carlton2 IMDb=NO

I recently looked up the movie Vantage Point (I was desperate to get a taste of my beloved butter-dosed movie theater popcorn) because it did look like a fairly exciting movie. I first went to the GREAT IMDb…There I saw a rating of 7.2. That’s a pretty good rating, and on a weekend that consists of Jumper, Fool’s Gold, and Step Up 2, I decided Vantage Point may be the movie for me.

jumper movie poster IMDb=NOFool’s Gold Movie

Step up 2 movievantage point

Now, although I usually don’t go to RottenTomatoes.com second, I did this time, and was completely turned off to the movie. RottenTomatoes gave the movie a rating of 33%! For comparison, Step Up 2 got a rating of 27%…So why am I so against IMDb?! Because the ratings are so BIASED. The movie The Hills Have Eyes, another horrible movie, got a rating of 6.8 because the ratings are BIASED. Think about it, who is going to see a movie like that? Mainly kids in high school and middle school who probably want to be scared shitless and, even more likely, get to hold their girlfriends.

scared kid

They are obviously going to rate the movie higher than the EXPERTS on RottenTomatoes. I don’t know about you, but I would rather trust someone who rates movies for a living rather than kids who want to get some from a girl when I’m planning on spending $30 at a movie…

Two overpriced movie tickets: $20
A tub of butter-soaked popcorn: $6
One gigantic cup of Sprite: $4
A good movie thanks to RottenTomatoes.com: Priceless! :D
